From Lonely to Thriving: The Story Behind Mama Tribe UAE

Starting over in a new country is never easy, especially when you're a mum with a little one in tow. When we moved to the UAE from Sydney, I found myself in an unfamiliar city with no friends, no support system, and endless days of just me and my baby, Zoe.

It was three weeks in when everything hit me. One night, I broke down to my husband, telling him how lonely I felt and how long the days stretched without anyone to talk to. His response? “You’re getting very negative—it’s really not like you.” And he was right.

He encouraged me to meet other mums. But how? How do you go about finding friends when you don’t know a soul? "Write a message on a Facebook group," he said, like it was the easiest thing in the world. I laughed, saying, "Haha, easy for you to say! I can’t just write, ‘Hello, I’m alone—does someone want to have coffee with me?’”

But deep down, I knew I needed to try. I was scared, yes, but I was also desperate for connection. So, I wrote that message. It wasn’t perfect, and it felt so vulnerable, but I pressed “send.”

And you know what? It worked.

A mum replied, and we met up for coffee. That simple act of bravery led to a friendship that changed everything for me. She became a very good friend of mine here, someone who understood my journey and supported me when I needed it most.

Why Mama Tribe UAE Exists

That moment was the seed that grew into Mama Tribe UAE. I realized that if I felt this way, there must be so many other mums feeling the same—alone, scared, and longing for connection.

I created Mama Tribe UAE because I didn’t want any other mum to go through what I did. I wanted to build a community where mums could find friendship, support, and a sense of belonging, without the fear of judgment or rejection.

We’ve all been scared to step out of our comfort zones, but the beauty is on the other side of that fear. When you take that first step, you’ll find women just like you—kind, understanding, and ready to be your friends.

A Community of Connection

At Mama Tribe UAE, no one is a stranger for long. Whether it’s your first meet-up or your tenth, you’ll always find a warm smile, a listening ear, and someone who’s been where you are.

I know how hard it can be to take that leap. I’ve been there. But I promise, it’s worth it. Because in the act of reaching out, you’ll find not just connection, but community—and maybe even your own rock to lean on.

So, if you’re feeling nervous about joining a meet-up, remember this: I was scared too. But stepping out of my comfort zone was one of the best decisions I ever made. And I’m so glad I did.

Come join us. Let’s build your village together.
